We are located in the town of Corvallis, Montana growing and foraging on land that belonged to the Native American Bitterroot Salish.
We believe that while in society's formality of us owning this little 3.66 acre property, we do not own anything other than a dream for a better world. We are stewards to this land and it is our job to do our absolute best in our time here to leave less of a negative impact on it than we found it.
That is why we strive to be a tractor-less farm, and reduce our tilling practices. We plan to perennialize as much of this property as we can, in order to reduce depending on as many quick turn over crops as possible. We will always be chemical free, and growing in accordance to USDA organic standards. We also love to incorporate and find as many native species to this region as possible to use as our cut flowers and herbs that we offer.
When we forage we promise to use ethical foraging practices that do not harm any other plants or animals in the process. We stay close to trails and do not veer off causing compaction of sacred soil. We wild forage on properties that we have permission to be on and harvest from. When we gather we are 100% certain of the wild species that we are foraging for safety and health purposes. We never devastate any one area, and always harvest selectively and minimally from individual plants and areas.
We do not claim to have the all of the answer to a better future or what agriculture should look like, but historically and currently agriculture has been devastating lands. We are ready to try to find what it looks like to have a relationship with our land that is not just for the purpose of extraction. This land is a home to us, and to other furry and scaly creatures. We are learning and unlearning practices all at once, as we are encouraging others to do as well. If we are going to make bigger changes we all have to be in this together, which is why we want to offer our skills as a resource and a place for folks to be able to start making those better decisions. Even if it is as simple as having a less wasteful and a more thoughtful source of local goods.
Join us on this small farm journey, we hope that the products we offer and share with our community inspires us all to continue to make better decisions everyday and live simple yet full lives.
